Anjino Vino · Vinarija Džipković
A beginning — built together, step by step.
Meet Anja
Anja Džipković · Founder, Anjino Vino
I studied law and economics in Switzerland. I worked in the tobacco industry. I was good at it — and I knew, slowly and then all at once, that it was the wrong life. Not wrong for the world. Wrong for me.
In 2022 I came back to Serbia, found a piece of land in Velika Plana, and started something that actually costs me sleep — in the best way. No inheritance. No tradition. No safety net. Just a beginning I chose, bottle by bottle.
"Find what you love and let it kill you."
— the only career advice that ever made sense to meAnjino Vino is not something I built despite my background. It's something I built because of it — because I know exactly what it feels like to be on the wrong side of a decision, and what it means to finally not be.
Quick Five
Five questions. No PR answers.
01
Morning ritual in harvest season?
Up before the light. Check the vines before I check my phone. There's a specific quiet in the vineyard at 5am that I didn't know I needed until I found it.
02
First wine that truly hooked you?
I was at dinner with a friend — staring at a wine list, completely lost. My dad had always ordered for me. That night I called him from the table. He walked me through it: what to look for, what I tend to love, how to trust my own palate. Something clicked. From then on, everything else is just the path that led here.
03
What do you drink when you're not at the winery?
Gin and tonic. Any season, any time of day — I could drink it at 9am in January and feel no guilt whatsoever. Also, occasionally, a very cold beer after a very long day in the vineyard. I don't apologise for either.
04
Hardest lesson the vineyard has taught you?
That you cannot negotiate with nature. I came from law and economics — two fields built entirely on the idea that you can argue your way to a better outcome. The vineyard doesn't care about your argument. It just is what it is. Your job is to listen.
05
What does a bottle of Anjino Vino taste like — beyond the notes?
Like something I almost didn't make. Every bottle is a small act of defiance against the life I was supposed to live.
"Anjino Vino is something I chose to build — not something I inherited."
In 2022, after spending my childhood abroad and my university years studying law and economics, I made the decision to return to my homeland in Serbia and start something I could call mine.
I felt a strong need to create something of my own — something real, physical, and connected to nature.
I didn't grow up in a winemaking family, and I didn't have a vineyard waiting for me. Everything began with a piece of land in Velika Plana — and with the support of my family, who believed in this idea from the very beginning.
In the early stages, I was learning constantly — not just from books or theory, but from the people around me.
The team working in the vineyard, many of whom are local and have spent their lives connected to this land, became an essential part of this journey. Their experience, intuition, and understanding of the vineyard taught me things that can't be learned any other way.
Working alongside them shaped my approach — more patient, more observant, and more respectful of the natural rhythm of the vines.
From the start, I knew I didn't want to build something big and industrial. I wanted to keep it small, focused, and personal.
Today, the vineyard covers about 3 hectares, with varieties I was used to drinking while living abroad — Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sauvignon Blanc.
I am not trying to fit into the Serbian wine scene at every cost. I embrace differences and I showcase them proudly through my hard work.
"Respect the grape. Respect the timing. Don't force the outcome."
I stay closely involved in every part of the process — from vineyard work to decisions in the cellar.
Production remains limited, by choice. It allows for attention to detail and preserves the connection between the land, the people, and the final bottle.
The goal is always to let the wine reflect where it comes from.
Without my family's support, and without the knowledge and dedication of the people working alongside me, this winery wouldn't exist in the way it does today.
There is no long tradition behind it. No inherited legacy. What exists instead is a beginning — built together, step by step.
What We Stand For
Respect the grape, the land, the timing, and the people who work it. Nothing is forced. Everything is earned.
We don't try to fit in. We embrace what makes Anjino Vino different and showcase it proudly in every bottle.
Limited production is a choice, not a constraint. It keeps us focused, personal, and connected to what truly matters.
"There is no long tradition behind it. No inherited legacy. What exists instead is a beginning — built together, step by step."
